About 50+ New England Housing Council

Supporting the 50+ Housing Market

The 50+ New England Housing Council was founded in 2002 as a chapter of the National Association of Home Builders’ Seniors Housing Council (now known as the 50+ Housing Council). Our mission then — and now — is to provide members with services, programs and information that will help them grow their business in this area.

The Council helps members better understand the active adult market and works to educate the market and key decision-makers on the importance of high-quality, professionally-built housing specifically designed to meet the demands of the nation’s growing 50-plus population in all market segments (affordable, middle market and luxury).

Our programming each year includes networking and educational programs such as the Luncheon Series, the Awards Gala, and the bi-annual Northeast Symposium.

50+ New England is the local resource for industry professionals and home builders associations (HBAs) in the six-state region. Any member of a local HBA can join the council.

We are grateful to our sponsors, who support our programs throughout the year! Learn more about these 50+ market leaders in the Sponsors section.

The Council is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, representing almost every facet of the active adult housing market.

There is often confusion about the active adult housing market. Our PDF, Definition of Age-Qualified and Age-Targeted Housing Products in New England provides an overview of product segmentation in this region and clears up commonly misunderstood 50+ housing terms. It’s a terrific primer for anyone interested in this market.
